Tembo Health Joins UHC Accelerator's 2022 Cohort

Tembo Health is honored to join the 2022 cohort of the UnitedHealthcare Accelerator. 

During the four month program, we will learn from UnitedHealthcare executives and other innovative healthcare companies to shape the future of senior healthcare.

CEO Anurag Gupta shares his perspective on what this opportunity means for Tembo Health:

Q: What was your initial reaction when you found out Tembo Health was selected for the UHC Accelerator?

AG: I was thrilled! I am excited to be in a cohort of phenomenal founders and companies that are innovating healthcare to make a true difference for patients. Engaging a community for support and learning are critical for a startup to thrive, and that’s exactly what this program offers. 

It is empowering and motivating that the largest health insurance company wants to help us accelerate our mission to improve health outcomes for seniors.

Q: What do you hope to learn over the next four months?

AG: Tembo Health is committed to improving health care access and outcomes for America’s seniors. The UHC Accelerator gives us unparalleled access to thought leaders and policy shapers in healthcare. During the course of the program and through our conversations with mentors, we’re looking to further refine our intermediate and longer-term roadmap with the intention of having the greatest impact on how healthcare is delivered to seniors. This includes:

• Future of Senior Care. What technology and policy trends should we consider as we grow?

• Future Services. How do we evolve our services offerings to impact the greatest number of seniors in obvious and non-obvious ways in the short and long term?
• How to Scale: How do we maintain clinical efficacy while impacting as many seniors as possible?

Q: Why is this program important for the future of healthcare and Tembo’s growth?

AG: Our goal at Tembo Health is ambitious and we know that. UHC serves nearly 14 million seniors today, giving them a depth of knowledge many other companies do not possess. It is imperative that we learn not only how to work with healthcare giants, but understand a single pain point from various perspectives to grow in a way that reflects the future of care.

Q: Why do you think now is the right time for growth?

AG: We introduced our flagship product - 24/7, on demand urgent care - at the height of the pandemic. We did so to keep seniors out of the hospital and limit their exposure to COVID. Since then, our customers have come to realize that the true impact of telemedicine in senior living facilities extends far beyond the pandemic. The time to elevate and expand Tembo Health is now!
